Srinagar: Chairman Jammu & Kashmir Peoples Democratic Front ( J&K PDF) and former Minister Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen has expressed his serious concern over the prevailing power crisis in Kashmir, Stating therein that people have been subjected to tremendous hardships .He has urged for immediate steps to improve the power scenario immediately in view of the fast coming winter season.
In a statement issued from party headquarters here on Monday, Hakeem said that frequent unscheduled power cuts in the wake of severe power shortage has put the people to lot of inconvenience .He has urged the Government to take immediate measures to improve the power scenario in Jammu and Kashmir . He said, in view of dry weather conditions prevailing for last several months in Jammu and Kashmir, the authorities should have taken steps in advance to avert the present power crisis.
Hakeem said that common people should not suffer due to power shortage more particularly during the harsh winters adding that Govt: was duty bound to provide all the requisite facilities to the people. He said the prevailing unprecedented power crisis was in no way a positive sign when people were expecting further improvement in power scenario following the assurance of the Government about adequate power supply at least in metered areas. “Jammu and Kashmir, being rich in power hydro power generation potential, should not have been facing such a worst power crisis and should have been self-reliant and power surplus but Alas! PDF leader observed. He said, it was most unfortunate that both the governments at Center and state were not serious enough to exploit the vast potential of hydroelectric power optimally.
