Srinagar: Police on Monday said that it has arrested Eleven (11) suspects for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation ogf minerals in Kulgam beside which 11 vehicles have been also seized from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that Kulgam Police along with officers of Geology & Mining Department have seized Eleven (11) vehicles including 2 JCB, 5 tractors and four (4) dumpers and also arrested Eleven (11) suspects for being involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals from Vishaw river at Ashmuji Bhan, Matalhama and other areas.
Stating that the police has accordingly registered a case with FIR No. 176/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Kulgam besides initiating the investigation, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
