“While the killing of hundreds of Israeli civilians in bombing by Hamas is a highly condemnable act in the eyes of International humanitarian law, the decision of Israel to cut supplies lines of basic human needs to civilian populations in Gaza is not only a flagrant violation of humanitarian law but also a war crime”.

The recent military actions in Gaza have proved it beyond doubt that leaving long standing decades old Israel-Palestine Conflict unresolved is a big threat to the stability of peace and security in Middle East. The situation developing in Gaza necessitates immediate cessation of military hostilities and resolution of the long standing conflict . What matters the most is the fact that onus on this count surely lies on the western powers particularly United States Of America (USA) which have always been at the centre of this long standing conflict in the middle east. Since Bombing civilian populations in Gaza and withdrawing humanitarian supply lines to the victims of bombing is by all standards of understandabilities a flagrant violation of International humanitarian law , the restoration of humanitarian supplies deserves immediate attention and intervention of the western powers particularly United States Of America (USA) which has been a the centre of decades long Israel-Palestine conflict since 1973. While the killing of hundreds of Israeli civilians in bombing by Hamas is a highly condemnable act in the eyes of International humanitarian law, the decision of Israel to cut supplies lines of basic human needs to civilian populations in Gaza is not only a flagrant violation of humanitarian law but also a war crime. Notablu US Secretary Of State Antony Blinken declared it in presence of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netenyahu that It is “ Vitally Important” for the Israel to accept “ International Humanitarian Law” to the responsible response of a state and irresponsible response of “terror groups”. Blinkin’s statement assumes significance due to the fact that world still remembers the killing of 200 Palestenians by Israel without any provocation from any quarter early this year. Since creating an environment for war and building a congenial atmosphere of peace and security in Middle East makes a huge difference, the onus of persuading Israel towards reconciliation instead of confrontation lies on western powers particularly United States Of America (USA).

“While Israel received much sympathy after the attacks on civilian populations by Hamas, the sympathy for Israel has eroded fast due to bombing of civilian populations in Gaza with the highly condemnable policy of collective punishment to hapless and helpless Palestinians. So huge outrage against Israel over it’s policy of collective punishment of civilians in Gaza is growing fast across the globe”.

While Israel had the right to defend itself the time when Hamas attacked it days ago but it’s bombing on civilian populations in Gaza can under no circumstances be called a responsible response of a sovereign state to the attacks of Hamas on civilians in Israel. To reduce the intensity of growing humanitarian crisis in Gaza it is the responsibility of Western Powers particularly United States Of America (USA) to make it a point to Israel that it can not be allowed to trigger a major huge human tragedy instead of being part of a reconciliatory process proposed and endorsed by the International community. Even the most influential states from South Asia like India are voicing high concerns against the attacks on civilian populations whether carried out by Hamas or are now forcefully carried out by Israel. Notably Prime Minister Of India Narendra Modi has said “while there is a universal obligation to respect international humanitarian law, there is also a global responsibility to fight terror in any form and in any part of the world” and the statement in itself conveys a message that while India vehemently condemns the Hamas attacks, it does not also endorse the military actions of Israel to attack civilians while exercising the right to retaliation against Hamas. Opposing all attacks against civilians and calling upon the world to pursue a human centric approach is undoubtedly a rightful response of the most influential South Asian Country like India to the situation of humanitarian crisis developing in Gaza and other territories of Palestine. What matters the most is the fact that while Israel received much sympathy after the attacks on civilian populations by Hamas, the sympathy for Israel has eroded fast due to bombing of civilian populations in Gaza with the highly condemnable policy of collective punishment to hapless and helpless Palestinians. So huge outrage against Israel over it’s policy of collective punishment of civilians in Gaza is growing fast across the globe.
