Srinagar: Police on Saturday arrested a drug peddler in Kulgam and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Station Kulgam at a checkpoint established at Asthal Bridge intercepted a suspicious person identified as Showkat Ahmad Sada S/o Abdul Gani Sada R/o Ashthal while carrying a nylon bag and during search recovered 7Kgs of Poppy Straw like contraband substance concealed in a nylon bag, adding therein that thev accused was immediately arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that Police registered a case FIR No. 173/2023 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Kulgam and investigation has also been initiated, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society.
