Srinagar: Police on Thursday said that it has arrested three drug peddlers in Kulgam, Ganderbal and Baramulla police districts and also recovered huge quantity of contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Kulgam Police received a specific input about the presence of contraband substance in a residential house of one Mohd Yousuf Rather S/o Ali Mohammad Rather R/o Kanjikullah, Yaripora and immediately raided the specific spot during which 52 Kgs of Poppy Straw in presence of Executive Magistrate Yaripora were recovered from the accused who was immediately arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that in a similar action in Ganderbal, Police Station Lar received an input about the hoarding of a psychotropic substances by a drug peddler identified as Tayib Feroze Bhat S/o Feroze Ahmad Bhat R/o Qasba Lar in his residential house with an intention to sell them to the local youth, Police in it’s statement further said that a special Police team was led by SHO Police Station Lar acted swiftly and raided the spot, adding therein further that during search, nine bottles of Codeine Phosphate & 120 banned tablets (Etizolam) were recovered from the residential house of the said accused in the presence of Lumberdar and Sarpanch of the concerned area. Police in it’s statement furthermore said that the said accused was arrested and shifted to police station, recalling therein that Ganderbal Police has arrested three notorious drug Peddlers in three consecutive days.
Police in its statement also said that in Baramulla also, a police party of Police Station Baramulla headed by SHO Police Station Baramulla under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla at a checkpoint established at Carriapa Park Baramulla intercepted a person identified as Aamir Bashir Ganie S/o Bashir Ahmad Ganie R/o Ushkara Baramulla and during checking recovered 48 capsules of Spasmo Proxyvon Plus and 300 tablets of Alprozolam from the possession of the said who was immediately arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that cases under relevant sections of law at respective police stations besides initiating the investigations , Police un the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and resolved to act tough against the criminals as per law.
