4 drug peddlers arrested with contraband substances: Police

Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested four drug peddlers in Shopian, Ganderbal and Baramulla and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Shopian, a police party led by SHO Police Station Shopian under the supervision of Dy SP Hqrs Shopian at a checkpoint established near Zaipora Crossing intercepted a person identified as Adil Farooq Dar S/o Farooq Ahmad Dar R/o Retnipora Shopian and during searches recovered 17 grams of heroin like substance and 112 grams of charas powder like substance, cash amount of Rs 1560/- and a mobile phone from his possession, Stating therein further that the accused has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Police in it’s above referred statement further said that in a similar action in Ganderbal following specific inputs regarding presence of contraband substances in the newly constructed house of Noor Mohd Ganai S/o Gh Nabi Gani R/o Rakh Haran Ganderbal in the Jurisdiction of Police Station Ganderbal a special Police team led by SHO Police Station Ganderbal reached on the spot and during the search of the house recovered five Kgs of crushed cannabis (Bang Patri) after which the owner of the house was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that in Baramulla also a police party of Police Post Kungamdara headed by Incharge PP Kungamdara under the supervision of SDPO Pattan at a checkpoint established at Maharajpora Kungamdara Baramulla intercepted two persons identified as Fakhruddin Malik S/o Mehraj ud Din and Waseem Ahmad Sheikh S/o Shamsuddin both residents of Singhpora Pattan and during their search recovered 60 grams of Charas like contraband substance from their possession, Police in it’s statement further said that the accused have been arrested and shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody, Stating therein further that cases under relevant sections of law were registered at respective police stations besides which further investigations were also initiated into the case.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood butwarned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
