Srinagar : Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University organized an interactive session on the theme ‘Why Mental Health Matters’ to celebrate World Mental Health Day on October 10, 2023. The session was held in the Centre for Hospitality and Tourism. The primary objective of the session was to reduce the stigma associated with mental health issues and to improve help-seeking behaviours of students in case of such issues.
According to a statement issued from Public Relations Office BGSBU here, Prof. Akbar Masood, Vice Chancellor, BGSBU said that mental health and well-being of students is critical for holistic development. He said that due to a variety of reasons, many students are experiencing mental health issues and need immediate help to navigate life challenges, resolve psychological concerns and develop a life-long orientation toward resilience and mental wellness through formal and informal means.
On the occasion Dr. Danish Iqbal Raina, Assistant Professor, held the session. Dr. Raina emphasized the value of eradicating the stigma attached to seeking assistance in case of mental health issues. Dr. Raina talked on various signs of mental health issues and highlighted the ways and means to take care of mental health and wellbeing.
