Srinagar Ring Road Project is one of the mega development projects planned and executed by the incumbent Government for decongesting the bye pass road in Srinagar and a part of Jammu-Srinagar four lane highway as this road would cover Pulwama, Budgam , Srinagar, Bandipora and Ganderbal districts. Though pace of construction on this dream project inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2019 was slow for about three years but it has picked up this year as the project as per the time is set to be complete by February next year. So this is one of the three maga developmental projects likely to be completed in the first quarter of the new year as the other two developmental projected likely to be completed early next year are Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla-Railway Line(USBRL) and the Jammu-Srinagar four lane highway. As both the land acquisition and as well as the land compensation parts of the Srinagar Ring road project have been already completed, there is obviously no scope for delay in completion of this vital developmental project before the commencement of the tourist season next year.
“While the completion of USBRL railway line and four-lane Jammu-Srinagar highway would ease the travel of the tourists and facilitate hassle free travel services to other categories of travelers in Kashmir, the Srinagar Ring Road won’t only ease the traffic congestion in Srinagar but it would also make the travel of tourists to world class tourist destinations like Gulmarg and Sonamarg hassle free. If completed as per the fixed timelines the Srinagar Ring road and moreso it’s limbs of Budgam and Ganderbal districts would ease the travel conveniences of both the tourists and as well as the traders engaged with different kinds of business operations in Kashmir Valley before the commencement of the tourist season next year . The completion of all the three projects in the first quarter of the next would by all probabilities give a major boost to travel, trade and tourism in Kashmir”.
Notably the Srinagar Ring Road is a 60.84-kilometer-long four-lane four lane project to completed in two phases with Phase-I a 42-km section of road connecting Galander with Narbal and Sumbal in the Bandipora district with Galandar, close to Pampore town in Pulwama district and Phase II an additional 18.84-km stretch of four-lane road connecting Narbal with Ganderbal. Significantly thee project also includes 400 structures, including culverts and bridges, along the road sections and work on majority of them is underway as on today. Even completion of first phase of the project would unprecedentedly reduce the congestion and increase the travel conveniences of both tourists and as well as other categories of travels in Srinagar and it’s peripheries. While the completion of USBRL railway line and four-lane Jammu-Srinagar highway would ease the travel of the tourists and facilitate hassle free travel services to other categories of travelers in Kashmir, the Srinagar Ring Road won’t only ease the traffic congestion in Srinagar but it would also make the travel of tourists to world class tourist destinations like Gulmarg and Sonamarg hassle free. If completed as per the fixed timelines the Srinagar Ring road and more so it’s limbs of Budgam and Ganderbal districts would ease the travel conveniences of both the tourists and as well as the traders engaged with different kinds of business operations in Kashmir Valley before the commencement of the tourist season next year . The completion of all the three projects in the first quarter of the next would by all probabilities give a major boost to travel, trade and tourism in Kashmir.
