PHQ issues Guidelines for implementation of benefits of MoU signed between J&K Police& J&K Bank

Srinagar: Police Headquarters J&K has issued a circular in which guidelines have been issyed for the implementation of benefits of MoU signed between J&K Police and J&K Bank.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between J&K Police and J&K Bank on September, 1st 2023. J&K Bank, besides giving most favoured client status to J&K Police, in addition to the benefits being extended in terms of previous MoU which form part of the circular, has agreed and offered some more varied benefits to J&K Police employees.
Under this circular, guidelines that are to be adhered to for effective implementation of the features/benefits guaranteed under this MOU are; the benefits/features must be read in roll calls and displayed prominently on notice boards so that all the members of police force take full advantage of the services offered under this MOU, particulars of employees and their family members duly authenticated must be updated with the respective J&K Bank branch, claims for settlement of Group Personal Accidental Insurance cover and Ex- gratia payment (Additional Cover) for police personnel/SPOs who are injured or die due to accidents, terrorism incidents or law & order situation should be filed immediately with the respective bank branch where the employee maintains his/her salary account, necessary documentation, including proof of incident, medical documents and succession certificate should accompany each claim.
The circular further reads that concerned DDOs of J&K Police shall process the payment charges with concerned J&K Bank Branch on account of repatriation of mortal remains of Police Martyrs and ambulance charges, Cases of meritorious wards of martyr police personnel who are willing to avail education loan of Rs 4.00 lakh at a discounted interest rate (1% discount) shall be forwarded to PHQ alongwith all the documentary proof including education qualification, dependent certificate and income certificate. PHQ shall scrutinize such cases and recommend the eligible / deserving ones to J&K Bank for grant of loan. AIG(Welfare) PHQ and Concerned DDOs shall update the details of police personnel who retire from the services or expire due to natural death with J&K Bank. All DDOs shall release terminal benefits only after obtaining NOC from the concerned J&K Bank branch of the employee. All procedures must be completed as early as possible including record updating for ensuring hassle free/efficient process for J&K Police employees to avail the benefits, it reads.
It further reads that it is enjoined upon all that these guidelines must be ensured in letter & spirit for smooth and efficient process for record updates, availing of benefits and settlement of claims. In case of grievances or issues/deviations related to the claim settlement process or any other benefit guaranteed under this MOU, the same should be promptly reported to PHQ for appropriate action. Copies of correspondences/reports should also be submitted to PHQ on a regular basis for reference.
