SMC organizes various activities under 2nd phase of “Meri Maati Mera Desh”

SMC collects Maati & Rice in Kalashs from all the 35 Administrative Wards

Srinagar: As part of nationwide 2nd phase of ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign which is a tribute to the sacrifices of national heroes, Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) today organized various activities at SK Park in which Commissioner SMC, Mr. Athar Aamir Khan (IAS) was the Chief Guest.
Besides other dignitaries and officers, the event was attended by second in command of 21st Battalion CRPF Mr.Amit Sinha, Deputy Director Nehru Yuva Kendra, Joint Commissioner SMC, Syed Abul Qasim, Secretary SMC, Chaudhry Mudasir Ahmad and other officers and officials of SMC.
The event started with the collection of “Maati” and Rice in “Kalashs” gathered from all the 35 Administrative wards of the SMC. After welcoming Commissioner SMC, Mr.Athar Aamir Khan by NYK volunteers, a small play from the artists of ‘Tul Kul Arts & Media’ highlighting the role and importance of ‘Safaimitras’ and SMC was played stressing on the responsibility of the common Citizens of the Srinagar City in keeping and maintaining optimum levels of Sanitation around their surroundings.
After the pledge under Commissioner SMC, all the ward officers from different wards brought forth their Kalashs carrying Maati before Commissioner SMC.
Mr.Athar thanked all the dignitaries, officers and officials who were present during the event and highlighted the significance of rising up to our responsibilities and duties in the designated capacities with utmost dedication. The Commissioner also praised the efforts of everybody involved in making the event a success and hoped to keep up the efforts with a pure conscience in making our nation great.
The event concluded with the vote of thanks from Joint Commissioner SMC, Syed Abul Qasim.
