DC reviews functioning of Education Sector in Jammu Distt

Says “Pedagogy needs to evolve to facilitate effective learning among students”

Jammu: Deputy Commissioner, Sachin Kumar Vaishya on Tuesday convened a meeting to review the status and development of the education sector in Jammu district.
The meeting included a thorough examination of building infrastructure, availability and condition. Discussions also covered activities related to the Seema Samriddhi Yojana and the associated works. The SDMs were instructed to conduct inspection of schools on regular intervals in their respective jurisdictions.
The DC emphasised the need to expedite the construction and handover of buildings, with explicit instructions to ensure swiftness of the development activities.
Underlining the critical role of youth in the future of the nation, the Deputy Commissioner called for motivation, innovation and effective teaching methods to encourage learning. Remedial measures for students with special needs were also discussed and deemed a joint responsibility of the concerned teachers.
The DC encouraged teaching staff and officers to brainstorm and identify best practices to improve the teaching and learning experience. He stressed the importance of nurturing problem-solving skills in children and acknowledged the priority of improving education in rural and border areas.
In a bid to enhance knowledge impartation, the DC welcomed feedback and innovative teaching approaches from attendees. Selected schools will implement experimental teaching methodologies, with the best practices to be adopted district-wide.
Attendance procedures and status in schools were reviewed, including smart classrooms and labs, with an emphasis on the need for innovative and motivated teaching staff. Discussions were held with various NGOs during the meeting, where they shared their experiences and feedback. A broad discussion also took place on various activities under SAMAGRA.
Prior to the meeting, the DC conducted a surprise inspection of Government Boys High Secondary School Gandhinagar. During the visit, he interacted with students, evaluated academic standards, assessed infrastructure and held a meeting with school authorities. The DC emphasised the need for improved learning outcomes.
The inspection and the meeting was held in the presence of ADC, Harvinder Singh and Sandeep Seointra, Chief Education Officer, Suraj Singh Rathore besides ZEOs and other concerned.
