Accused apprehended in hit & run case within hour of incident in Awantipora: Police

Srinagar: Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested an accused driver involved in a hit and run case within an hour of the incident in Awantipora.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that earlier in the morning, a road accident took place at Reshipora in which one girl identified as Adeeba Arshid (age about 10 years) D/o Arshid Ahmad Shiekh R/o Reshipora was hit by a Dumper bearing registration no: JK01AE-3177 driven rashly and negligently by Mohd Haneef Khanday S/o Ali Mohd Khanday R/o Meej Pampore.
Stating that in the said incident the girl died on the spot, Police in it’s statement further said that while acting swiftly, a Police team apprehended the accused driver within hour of the incident, adding therein that the police has later accordingly taken a cognisance under relevant section of law besides, a dumper has also been seized.
