Gandhi Jayanti Celebrations promote Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign in Udhampur district

Udhampur: In commemoration of Mahatma Gandhi’s Birth Anniversary, a series of activities were conducted by the district administration Udhampur under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner, SaloniRai,.
As a part of the ongoing Swachhta Hi Sewa Campaign on Gandhi Jayanti, a Wall Painting event was organized in ShaheedBhagat Singh Park. Sixteen educational institutes and approximately 160 students participated in the event.
The DC also visited the Park and interacted with the students, and appreciated their tireless efforts. She expressed hope that the hard work of the students would inspire them to excel in life.
Another significant event under the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign took place at Sports Stadium Udhampur, in collaboration with RED FM 91.1.
The event featured various theme-based skits and cultural performances by local artists and students from different schools.
The event was attended by Chairman DDC, Lal Chand; Deputy Commissioner, SaloniRai; SSP, Dr. Vinod Kumar; Additional District Development Commissioner, Ghan Sham Singh; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Joginder Singh Jasrotia; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Rafiq Ahmed Jaral; BDC Chairman, Balwan Singh and other officers, besides PRI members and prominent citizens.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner spoke about Mahatma Gandhi’s teachings and philosophy, emphasizing his dedication towards uplift of the deprived and downtrodden. She urged participants to follow Gandhi’s path and spread messages of peace, prosperity, and progress. The DC also called upon the public to maintain the cleanliness of Udhampur district and promote proper waste disposal.
Earlier in the day, Additional District Development Commissioner Ghan Sham Singh, along with ADC Joginder Singh Jasrotia and Ward CouncillorPritiKhajuria flagged off a bicycle rally from Martyrs Chowk. The rally was organized by the district Administration and UB Randonneurs Cyclists Association and saw huge participation of cyclists.
Later, the Chairman DDC and Deputy Commissioner felicitated the participants.
