VC SKUAST-K inaugurates auditorium, post-mortem complex, student facility centre

Srinagar: Vice Chancellor, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir, Prof Nazir Ahmad Ganai, inaugurated various state-of-the-art facilities at the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Faculty of Fisheries campuses on Tuesday.
According to a statement issued from Public Relations Office SKUAST_-K here, an auditorium, a post-mortem complex and livestock products testing lab at the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, Shuhama campus and the fish laboratory complex at the Faculty of Fisheries at Rangil campus.
Prof Nazir A Ganai was accompanied by officers of the university including the Director Planning & Monitoring Dr Haroon Naik, Director Extension Dr D M Makhdoomi, Dean Veterinary Dr MT Banday, Dean Fisheries Dr Farooz Ahmad Bhat, Scientists of the two faculties besides the contingent of officers from the estates Division of SKUAST-Kashmir.
The auditorium at Veterinary Faculty Shuhama has a capacity of 400 and has been constructed to cater for the needs of arranging scientific conferences, seminars, symposia, workshops etc at the varsity’s Shuhama campus that houses Faculty of Veterinary Sciences providing undergrad and postgrad education in veterinary and animal sciences, facilitating high-end research in the areas of animal health and production. A Farm Science Centre is also located at the Shuhama campus which provides skill and entrepreneurial education to farmers and youth.
The state-of-the-art post-mortem complex will facilitate student learning in the area of pathobiology and scientific disposal of animal carcasses. A museum of veterinary importance will also be established in the complex.The animal products testing laboratory complex will facilitate the evaluation of products of animal origin for identification, quality assurance and product development.
The Students Facility Centre at the Faculty of Fisheries Rangil will provide facilities for refreshment, and quality medical health services to the students and the employees besides having a dedicated space for career counselling and students’ placement and sports activities.
