ADC steers Peace Torch on its next leg of Journey

Kathua: Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ranjeet Singh on Tuesday presided over the reception ceremony of Shanti Yatra here in the DC Office Complex. The ceremony witnessed huge participation of people from all walks of life.
After the formal reception of the Shanti Yatra, the ADC garlanded the Shanti Chinh and paid floral tributes to Gandhi Ji.
He emphasized the significance of the Shanti Yatra, calling upon all students and attendees to embrace the teachings and principles of Mahatma Gandhi. He stressed the importance of leading a life guided by the spirit of non-violence, echoing Gandhi Ji’s philosophy. He appreciated the enthusiasm shown by school students who turned up in large numbers from the touchdown point in Bani to Kathua HQ. He said the Yatra will further amplify the message of truth, cleanliness, peace and non violence which will remain relevant to any civilised society.
The initiative of Shanti Yatra by the School Education Department stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of Mahatma Gandhi, spreading his timeless ideals and inspiring future generations towards a path of peace and harmony.
Earlier, at Government Middle School Chack Sheikhan in Zone Kathua a grand reception was accorded to the Shanti Yatra in presence of CEO, P.L Thapa, ZEO, Mangal Singh, ZEO Lakhanpur, Kalsoom Akhter along with District Incharge Cultural Committee Monika Khosla, Teachers and a large number of school students.
The depiction of ‘Gandhi Vatika’, the three-monkey theme, the Charkha-spinning, and enacted a role-play on Salt Satyagraha/Dandi March (a mass civil disobedience movement initiated by Mahatma Gandhi against the salt tax imposed by the British) accompanied by an elegant dance sequence on ‘Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram’ presented by GMS Chack Sheikhan and GHS Parliwand was acclaimed by one and all.
Following its reception at DC Office Complex, the Shanti Yatra proceeded for onward journey to significant locations, including GMS Kalibari, GMS Barnoti, GHS Rajbagh and to several schools of Marheen and Hiranagar Zones before it halted at Higher secondary school Kootah. En-route it was warmly welcomed by dedicated staff members and an impressive assembly of students.
The Shanti Chinh will be handed over to the Chief Education Officer Samba, tomorrow.
Pertinently, the Shanti Yatra, which was flagged off on September 9th from Poonch district, aims to celebrate the enduring legacy of Mahatma Gandhi in all schools of the Jammu division, spanning from September 9th to October 2nd. Gandhi Jayanti, celebrated on October 2nd, will be highlighted by the Shanti Yatra, a symbolic journey promoting Gandhi Ji’s message of love, peace, non-violence, and cleanliness.
