DC Poonch reviews performance of Agriculture, allied Deptts

Stress laid on establishing Farmers Producer Organizations for niche crops

Poonch: Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Yasin M. Choudhary on Tuesday chaired a meeting to review the performance of Agriculture and allied departments with regard to the implementation of respective schemes in the district.
At the outset, Deputy Commissioner took a comprehensive review of the activities of the departments as well as physical and financial achievements under CAPEX, MIDH and PMDP with special focus on Holistic Agriculture Development Plan (HADP).
Deputy Commissioner reviewed the progress of 29 projects under HADP pertaining to different Departments of Agriculture sector like Beekeeping, Fisheries, Mushroom cultivation, Production of designer plants (Mother Block of Apple), Mutton units, Wool units, Poultry farms, RBSH, and stressed upon the formulation of Farmers Producer Organizations for the niche crops.
The chair gave strict instructions to the District Officers about HADP implementation. He asked them not to repeat the beneficiaries and provide equal benefit to all the farming community.
The Deputy Commissioner stressed to expedite the works undertaken for development of the farming community and enhance their income through government schemes and cover the maximum number of farmers in the schemes.
The officers were advised to supervise the process of execution of works in their respective jurisdictions to ensure timeline completion with judicious utilization of funds. He further directed officers to initiate on-ground execution without unnecessary delays caused by the transitional phase.
All officers were instructed to redouble their efforts to achieve both physical and financial targets set for the current fiscal year within predefined timeframes.
The meeting was attended by Chief Agriculture Officer, Chief Horticulture Officer, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, District Sheep Husbandry Officer, AD Fisheries, AD Floriculture, District Sericulture Officer, AGMO (P&M) Head Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Poonch and others.
