Unfortunately traffic police authorities turn a blind to increasing traffic jams near hospitals, schools, colleges, coaching centres, shopping malls and grocery stores both in the peak morning and evening hours and also during the day time.

Though there is nothing new in huge traffic jams near public places in Srinagar and major towns of Kashmir valley but lately rising intensity of traffic Jams near Hospitals, Schools, Colleges, coaching centres, shopping malls and grocery stores in Srinagar city and major towns of Kashmir Valley has become a routine practice and does not head to any dead end for the last several years. Unfortunately traffic police authorities turn a blind to increasing traffic jams near hospitals, schools, colleges, coaching centres, shopping malls and grocery stores both in the peak morning and evening hours and also during the day time. While parking spaces have not been built near most of the hospitals, schools , colleges, coaching centres, shopping malls and grocery stores in recent years despite huge public outcry on this count, the trends of roadside parking near hospitals, schools ,colleges and other such public places are rising day after day, month after month and year after year. Traffic congestion outside SKIMS Medical College Hospital on Bemina Bye Pass road , G B Panth Hospital on Sonwar-Panthachowk Highway, Mallinson Girls and Tyndale Biscoe Boys Schools in city Centre Lal Chowk, Girls Higher Secondary School Kothibag and Women’s College on M A road Srinagar and Degree Colleges in major towns like Anantnag and Baramullla are few instances to attract the attention and intervention of traffic police authorities for the purposes of curbs on rising traffic jams near public places in cities and town across Kashmir.

“Since low intensity attention of traffic police towards increasing traffic jams near key public facilities like hospitals, schools and colleges is tantamount to risking the lives of patients near hospitals and those of the children and youth near schools and colleges, administrative wisdom demands immediate attention and intervention of the top brass of the traffic police department for the purposes of hassle free movement of people to hospitals, schools and colleges. For reducing the high risks of traffics Jams near public facilities like hospitals, schools and colleges, new parking spaces in commercial hubs of cities and towns and heavy curbs on road side parking by both passenger and private vehicles near public places particularly hospitals, schools and colleges are undoubtedly the matters of biggest priorities for the Government”.

Though roadside parking triggering intense traffic jams near hospitals, schools, colleges, shopping malls, hotels and grocery stores is a matter of huge public concern but the attention traffic authorities attach to complaints of traffic jams near public places in commercial hubs in both Srinagar and as well as major towns of Kashmir Valley is not sufficient enough to bring down the rising intensity of public outcry on this count.
