Srinagar: Police on Monday said that it has saved a stranded family who had lost their destination in the deep forest area of Bangus Valley after the family concerned dialed 112 service of J&K Police and were subsequently shifted by the joint team of Police & Army to the safer location.
According to a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar, by creating another example of being a saviour, Dial-112 received a distress call on 24th September informing therein that one person namely Atiq-ul-Rahman along with his family members including five ladies and five small children (total 11 persons) went to Bangus valley in Kupwara for picnic in a Scorpio vehicle, adding therein that while returning back to their destination, they chose Upper Rajwar Wader Bala route towards Handwara but unfortunately, they lost their way in deep forests besides which their vehicle got stuck and was unable to move any further. Later the family concerned finding itself in distress contacted J&K Police on its Dial-112 free service for the urgent help.
Stating that the police accordingly informed the concerned police units operating in the area for the urgent help and on receipt of this information, Police in it’s statement said that acting promptly Incharge Police Post Zachaldara alongwith a police party and Army (21RR) started the rescue operation and after strenuous efforts, the joint team reached the spot and successfully tracked the stranded family, thereby saving the precious lives of 11 persons. “Subsequently, the stranded family was shifted to Police Post Zachaldara for night stay by the joint team where they were also served with refreshment”, the Police Statement reads, adding that “Moreover, their stuck vehicle was toed from the spot by a JCB which was arranged by the Police and later escorted them up to the main road where from they resumed their journey to their home”. Meanwhile Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement said that the stranded family has praised police for their timely help and appreciated the prompt action of Dial 112.
