Jammu| Sept,24: Brigadier (Retd) Anil Gupta the J&K BJP Spokesman has said that Congress under the leadership of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi “divided the nation” on religious lines just for power and alleged that now the grand old party is again trying to divide the country on caste basis over the women reservation bill passed by the parliament.

In a statement issued in reference to a bill passed by parliament which gave 335 reservation to women in parliament and state assemblies the J&K BJP Spolesman said “Congress earlier divided the nation on religious basis for the lust of power. It thereafter followed the appeasement policy to remain in power”, adding that ” Indira gave the slogan of Garibi Hatao but failed miserably”.

Alleging that Indira Gandhi as prime minister of the country introduced caste ridden politics and thereafter her son Rajiv Gandhi inherited the premiership  of the country ona sympathy wave but met his waterloo due to Bofors scandal, Brigadier (Retd) Gupta said Indira Gandhi Government set the trend of scandals and cronyism.  Stating that Narasimha Rao as Prime Minister of the country introduced reforms but was disowned by the Party, Brigadier (Retd) Gupta said Sonia – Manmohan era was the era of remote control politics and scandals galore due to which  Bharat’s global image nosedived during this era.

Alleging that in a desperate last ditch attempt to crown Rahul Gandhi, the Congress party is trying to divide the country once again on a caste basis, the J&K BJP Spokesman said ” desperation is so deep that having given unconditional support to WBR in the Parliament, it is building an anti-bill narrative by raising the issue of reservation for OBCs”, adding that  “Let the nation go to hell but RaGa must be crowned at any cost is the effort of Congress”, asking therein that “Are the people of Bharat so naive”?
