Workshop on “protection of women against sexual harassment at workplace” concludes at GCW Udhampur

Udhampur : The Two Day workshop on “Protection of Women from Sexual harassment at workplace” concluded on Friday here in Government College for Women (GCW) Udhampur.
The workshop was organised by Internal Complaint Committee against Sexual Harassment in collaboration with Swachhta Action Plan (SAP) Club under the convenorship of Dr. Seema Sharma and Dr. Kewal Kumar respectively under the able guidance of Prof. Anjali Mahajan, Principal of the college.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Joginder Singh Jasrotia was the chief guest on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest lauded GCW Udhampur for organizing such a wonderful workshop. He further added that such workshops are the need of the hour for every educational institution to generate awareness among the youth as well as society. He also discussed various initiatives taken by the Government to ensure safety of the women.
Earlier, Principal of the host college, Prof. Anjali Mahajan presented the formal welcome address and highlighted the outcomes of the workshop and how it will go a long way in spreading the message of the workshop to the general masses.
In the morning, a self defense training session especially for girl students was conducted where Sensei Aaftab, President and Technical Instructor, Karate Association, Udhampur and his team imparted knowledge of various martial skills through practical demonstration to the students which they can utilize in case of any emergency.
Many students voluntarily shared their experiences and knowledge they gained during the workshop. Meanwhile, a theme based motivational song on women empowerment was presented by Mousmi and a party from the Department of Music. A theme based Nukkad Natak was also presented by the Aanchal and Party from the Department of Music which was highly applauded by the audience.
Later, Chief Guest along with Principal and senior faculty distributed mementos and certificate among the resource persons and participants on the occasion.
The proceedings of the programme and a brief report on the 2 days workshop was presented by Pragnaya Raina, a student of Sem-V while the formal vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Sanjeev Upadhyay.
Among others, Dr. Seema Sharma, Kewal Kumar, Ashni Devi, Dr. Ashok Kumar, Sarika Mahajan, Sumita Rao, Tania Akhter, Dr. Amit Kumar, Tania Mahajan, Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Yash Kumar and about 180 students were also present on the occasion.
