Central Bureau of Communication organises 2-day Integrated Communication & Outreach prog at Shopian

Shopian: The Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India Wednesday organized a two day Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme (ICOP) at Imtiyaz Memorial Government Degree College Shopian.
The programme was inaugurated by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Shopian, Dr. Zakir Hussain Faaz.
The program was organised on the theme of ‘9 Years: Seva, Sushasan and Garib Kalyan’ by CBC’s Field Office, Anantnag to showcase India’s matchless achievements in different fields during the last nine years.
Information about various public welfare schemes of the government, especially those for youth are being shared with the people by means of a photo exhibition, informative standees, expert lectures and printed awareness material.
Shahid Mohammad Lone, Field Publicity Officer CBC in his inaugural address gave a detailed overview about the mandate and activities of CBC and briefed the audience about the programme.
Outlining the major themes to be covered during the two day event, he said that the programme will cover major flagship schemes like Ayushman Bharat, PM KISAN, Mission LiFE, Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and National Education Policy (NEP-2020) apart from themes like G20 Presidency, 6th POSHAN mah and Vigilance Week 2023.
In his keynote address, Dr. Zakir Hussain Faaz, ADC Shopian, appreciated the Central Bureau of Communication for reaching out to the people of Shopian, especially the youth. He exhorted the students to play a proactive role in the development of the community while stressing on the need to spread awareness about the public welfare schemes among masses for their successful implementation.
Dr. Zakir said that the information dissemination about these public welfare schemes and programmes is of vital importance to ensure the benefits reach the rightful beneficiaries.
The first day of the programme was primarily dedicated to the awareness about NEP 2020 and Poshan Abhiyan in view of the nationwide celebration of the 6th Rashtriya POSHAN mah during September 2023.
Bilal Ahmad Bhat, resource person designated by the District Institute of Education and Trainings (DIET), Shopian gave a detailed presentation on the NEP-2020 highlighting the key aspects of the landmark initiative. Zeenat-un-Nisa from Poshan Project, Shopian delivered a lecture on the nutritional support and preschool educational programs run by the POSHAN project.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Shafiq, Principal GDC Shopian, Mohammad Mushtaq, Chief Education Officer, Mohammad Iqbal, Principal DIET, Shopian Showkat Hussain, District Information Officer, among others.
Earlier in the day an open quiz competition was organised for the students and the winners were awarded prizes and commendation certificates by CBC.
Shahid Mohammad Lone, FPO informed that on the second day, experts will deliberate on the schemes related to health and also on the menace of substance abuse.
