Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested two persons for arranging running away of a groom on the day of reception.
In a statement issued on Tuesday Police said that Police Station Awantipora received a written complaint from one Shazia Akhter against Fayaz Ahmad Dar and his father Mohammad Shahban Dar S/o Gh. Qadir Dar R/o Kandizal Awantipora who alleged therein that her wedding reception was scheduled on 16/09/2023 with Fayaz Ahmad Dar, after performing the Nikah earlier. Police in it’s statement further said that all the arrangements were put in place for the arrival of the groom along with wedding procession but the said wedding reception was called off at the last moment by the groom side on the pretext that the groom has run away and has refused to attend the reception thereby denying the Nikah which has been performed earlier.
Stating that on receipt of the said information, Police took the cognizance of the matter by registering FIR No 182/2023 under relevant sections of law in Police Station Awantipora against the groom and his father and subsequently arrested the both. “Further investigation in the case is going on”, Police said in it’s statement.
