Gandhi Jayanti celebrated in Govt SPMR College of Commerce Jammu

Jammu: Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated in PG Department of Commerce (M.COM) Government SPMR College of Commerce on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, the College Principal Prof. Surinder Kumar enlightened the students about the pivotal role of Mahatma Gandhi in the freedom movement, his principles and legacy. He further acquainted the students about various career options available after completion of PG course and appreciated the coordinated efforts of teachers and students for organizing such an event.
A series of activities were conducted to commemorate the occasion. The first activity was an Essay writing competition on the topic “Relevance of Gandhian Principles in today’s world.” The first position was bagged by Purvi Gupta (4th Sem), followed by Taniya Sharma (2nd Sem) and Ashav Kumar (4th Sem) at second position and Surbhi Vaid (4th Sem), Jasmine Bharti and Iqra (2nd Sem) at third position.
Second activity performed was Collage making on the topic “Life lessons of Gandhi Ji” in which first position was secured by Pushp Preet Kour (2nd Sem), second position by Rupali Manhas (4th Sem) and third position by Rahul Ahirvar and Simran Bandral (4th Sem).
And the last activity was a Singing contest on “Patriotism” in which first position was obtained by Maheshwar Sing Chib (2nd Sem), followed by Tania Chib at second place (4th Sem), and Riya Mehra (4th Sem) at the third place. Consolation prize was given to Kartik Kohli (4th Sem).
All these activities filled the atmosphere with reverence and inspiration.Thefaculty members present at the event were Prof. Barbara Kaul (HOD Commerce), Dr. Monika Malhotra (IQAC Convenor), Dr. Sakshi Sharma (HOD M.Com), Dr. Kanwaljeet Kaur and Dr. Ramandeep Kour. The proceedings of theprogram were conducted by Aayushi Jain (2nd Sem) under the guidance of Dr. Sakshi Sharma.
