Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Awantipora and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party led by SHO Police Station Tral under the supervision of SDPO Tral at a checkpoint established at Nukdi Crossing Bathnoor intercepted a suspicious person and during search, 570 grams of Charas like substance was recovered from his possession following the accused identified as Nazir Ahmad Sheikh S/o Ab Rashid Sheikh R/o Nukidi Bathnoor Tral was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that a case vide FIR No. 108/2023 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Tral and and investigation into the case was also initiated, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to bring to it’s notice on 112 any crime they will find anywhere nearer to their localities and cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society.
