Jammu: Highlighting the significance of Jammu as premier pilgrim destination, BJP Pradesh Vice President and former minister Surjeet Singh Slathia on Monday said the party is committed to transform the city as a vibrant and aesthetically developed destination of northern India.
According to a statement issued from party headquarters Jammu, “Much has been done in recent years and more needs to be done for further improving the civic amenities with class of art facilities and beautification of Jammu”, Slathia said while addressing public meetings at Nai Basti and Sainik Colony areas this afternoon in the run up to the elections to civic bodies.
He dwelt in detail the achievements registered under the Jammu Smart City Project, saying this has transformed the landscape of the city.
He said time has come to strive unitedly for realizing aspirations of Jammu and to end the era of despondency decades. He regretted that despite being assimilative and inclusive in character, Jammu had always been pushed to the wall due to political exigencies of the elite ruling class in the past, but the trend has changed post abrogation of the Article 370. This anomaly has been superseded by a mechanism to guarantee equal role and opportunities to everyone, irrespective of religion, region or caste, in all spheres, economic or political during the past four years. He pitched for a robust and forward looking concept of development, progress and political empowerment wherein the people have equal and participatory role in the decision making and governance. He reiterated that the BJP has succeeded in ensuring that no region, sub-region or section of people have hegemony over others.
Slathia said Jammu and Kashmir has to flourish as a single entity with opportunities of development and progress to all. He also called for strengthening the bonds of amity and brotherhood, saying harmony between various segments of society is interlinked to justice for all and discrimination to none.
He called for assuaging the urges of all the the areas, saying unity in diversity has been strength of this part of the country. This is how India is progressing and making a big mark globally under the cherished agenda of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas. This spirit can be maintained by strengthening the hands of the Prime Minister, he added.
Slathia called upon the people to support the BJP for holistic and all round development of the Jammu during the ensuing civic polls.
