Selection of beneficiaries under HADP-Sheep Husbandry sector conducted at Kupwara

Kupwara: On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, District Level Committee (DLC) for Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) met here under the chairmanship of Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Kupwara, Altaf Ahmad Khan for selection of beneficiaries under Sheep Husbandry sector.
On the occasion, District Sheep Husbandry Officer Kupwara, Dr. Sheikh Ishrat Mehmood (Member Secretary) briefed the chair and DLC members regarding the projects, targets and the number of applications received by the department for establishment of units.
Further, the programme and selection process was moderated by T.O-DSHO, Dr. Altaf Pirzada. Modus operandi as per Revised ISDS guidelines and Record Note of the meeting was followed and it was given out that each CD block shall receive its quota (scheme wise) and with due share to the reserved class.
Out of 165 applications considered for approval at Deputy Implementing Officer level, 24 beneficiaries (16 General, 5 ST, 2 Women and 01 Chopan) have been selected for establishment of 50 Ewes commercial units through Draw of Lots.
For establishment of Common Facilitation Centre, one Farmer Producer Organization was approved by the DLC to undertake all 6 activities under one umbrella.
For construction of Doke with Paddock at Highland Pasture, one beneficiary (target-01) was selected.
Similarly for Distribution of Tents/ P.P Sheets (incentive in kind), 10 beneficiaries were selected out of 12 applicants.
For Assistance to FPOs, one FPO – Handwara Merino Wool Producers Company Ltd was selected to undertake the activities.
ACR Kupwara, ACD, GM-DIC, Chief Agriculture Officer Kupwara, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, AD Fisheries, AMO, District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Representatives from CHO/ District Sericulture Office, besides, breeders/ FPO members attended the meeting.
