2-Day int’l Conference on ‘Sustainable Dev’ concludes in Govt Degree College Doda

Doda : A two day International Conference on the theme of “Multidisciplinary Approach in Research and Innovation for Sustainable Development” concluded the other day at Government Degree College Doda.
The event was organised by GDC Doda in collaboration with GDC Thathri and in association with International Benevolent Research Foundation (IBRF), West Bengal and Confederation of Indian Universities (CIU), New Delhi under the patronship of Alok Kumar, Principal Secretary Hr Education J&K; patronship of Prof. (Dr) Yasmeen Ashai, Director Colleges Department of Hr. Education J&K and Abdul Majid Butt, Director Finance JK Hr. Education and co-patronship of Dr Attar Singh Kotwal Principal GDC Doda along with Prof. Basharat Iqbal, Principal GDC Thathri.
Dr. Ajaz A. Wani, Associate Professor and HOD Zoology acted as the organizing secretary of the conference, while Prof. Imteyaz Ahmed, Assistant Prof. Zoology GDC Doda and Dr Tasir Sharief Per HOD Botany acted as co-organizing secretaries. Prof. K. K. Manhas, HOD Education along with Dr Jamsheed Ahmed HOD English GDC Doda were the conveners of the conference.
The sponsorship of the conference was owned by Govt. JK Hr. Education Dept., JK Science Technology and Innovation Council, Dept. of Science and Technology, Govt. of J&K and J&K Bank. Sustainable Development and Sustainable Research & Innovation were the main theme headings under which abstracts were invited.
The International Conference began with an inaugural function on 14th of September at 10 AM.
Dr Ravi Shanker, Special Secretary JK Hr. Education Department acted as the chief guest, while Dhanater Singh, Chairman District Development Council Doda acted as the special guest along with Dr Tanmoy Rudra, Executive Secretary, CIU New Delhi; Prof. Basharat Iqbal, Principal GDC Thathri; Dr Kuldeep Sharma, Principal GDC Bhaderwah; Dr Tradib Bandhopadhyay, Chairman IBRF, West Bengal; Dr Vivekananda Chakrborty, Chairperson InScA, West Benal as guests of honor.
The session witnessed the welcome address by Co-patron Principal GDC Doda and aims and objectives of the conference by organizing secretary. The guests congratulated the organizing college and highlighted the significance of such events in the progress of higher education institutions and the society around.
It was followed by various parallel technical sessions upto 15th September noon based on different subjects like languages, sciences, humanities.
A number of academicians, research scholars from various states of India like from north east India, UP, MP, Rajasthan, Bihar, West Bengal etc. besides from different parts of the J&K like from Jammu, Kashmir and Chenab region presented their research and marked indelible impressions on the participants.
The conference acted as a remarkable platform for sharing and exchanging ideas related to sustainable development. This will definitely work in the direction of meeting 17 SDGs of United nations. Besides scientists from international level like from Canada, Bangladesh etc. interacted and shared their research and views online with the participants. It is important to note here that a student session was also held in which various students presented their local researches and posters. This definitely marks an important step in the sensitizations of younger and tender brains towards research and innovation. About 100 Participants registered for the conference from national and international level. Researchers from top national universities like Aligarh Muslim University attended the conference.
The conference ended with the Valedictory Session on 15th September afternoon. Dr Rajiv Rattan Sharma, Director College Development Council, University of Jammu acted as the chief guest while Abdul Majeed Butt, Director Finance JK Hr. Education graced the occasion as Special Guest along with Prof. Zaheer Abbas Hashmi, former Principal GDC Doda and Controller of Examination Cluster University of Jammu; Dr Bhavnesh Chand Anthal, Principal GDC Ramnagar acted as guests of honor.
The comments of the guests were very inspiring and they lauded the efforts of GDC Doda along with collaborators for the organization of sustainable development focused conference. Several presenters were awarded with best presentation awards and others with best poster presentation awards. Student also got the awards for their best efforts.
Dr Akhter Hussain and Dr Tabassum Saleem coordinated the inaugural function whereas Prof. Imteyaz Ahmed coordinated the valedictory Session of the conference. Several other faculty members coordinated the technical sessions namely Prof. Purnima Manhas, Prof. Mohd Ashraf, Prof. Zain Butt, Prof. Younis Rashid, Dr Neelam Saba and others.
All the teaching and non teaching staff worked in different committees for the successful conduct of the conference. Various faculty members along with non teaching multitasking staff were honored in the valedictory function for their dedication and hard work towards the organization of international conference.
