NCORD meeting reviews Drug Abuse Control measures in District Ramban

Ramban: Additional District Magistrate Ramban, Harbans Lal Sharma on Friday chaired a meeting of the District-level NARCO Coordination Committee (NCORD) to review the measures taken by the enforcement agencies to curb the drug abuse and narcotics trade in the district.
The meeting was attended by Additional SP, Gourav Majahan; Assistant Commissioner, Revenue, Gias-ul-Haq; CEO, Dev Anand; Drug Control Officer, Imtiyaz Ahmed and other concerned officers. SDM Gool Tanveer -Ul-Majid; SDM Banihal, Zaheer Abbas, Tehsildars connected through virtual mode.
The meeting was convened to discuss strategy to curb the drug abuse and narcotic trade in the district besides reviewing the implementation of decisions and directions passed in previous meetings under the aegis of District Magistrate, Ramban Mussarat Islam.
Threadbare discussion was also held on various issues related to incidence of drug addiction, areas of concern and hotspots of drug use and action taken by the concerned departments with regard to curb the menace of drugs.
The ADM sought ATR from all stakeholder departments about the measures taken by them to control the drug menace. He suggested a string of measures and asked the committee to work with coordination at different levels to combat drug trafficking and ensure better coordination among the Civil and Police administration.
The ADM directed all concerned to compile a database of persons indulged in drug addiction to facilitate them for their medical treatment and recovery to save their precious lives.
He also directed Tehsildars to take clearance reports from all concerned departments so that we can make Panchayats drugs free in the district.
He stressed upon all stakeholders to launch a massive awareness campaign across the district, involving people from all walks of life including school children, youth, PRIs, and the target public.
He further underscored that the Ramban Administration has adopted a zero tolerance policy against drug suppliers and traffickers. He asked all concerned to make a micro level strategy to deal with the menace of drugs.
