New Delhi: A massive infrastructure with 1675 indoor antennas, over 35 KM meters of RF cable, and 25 KM of fiber cable was deployed by RailTel to provide uninterrupted telecom services of global standard in 122-acre ITPO Campus
Campus wide Wi-Fi and LAN Ports were deployed for providing Internet at the various halls for G20 events.
The G20 Summit recently held in New Delhi marked a pivotal moment for the country, as world leaders converged under one roof to address a number of global concerns. RailTel was entrusted with delivering integrated Telecom solutions at Pragati Maidan, specifically at the newly inaugurated Bharat Mandapam and exhibition halls.
Over 3600 man-days were invested by RailTel and its partners to establish cutting-edge Mobile Network Infrastructure and a neutral In-building Telecom Infrastructure, substantially enhancing mobile coverage across the expansive 122-acre ITPO campus. This telecom infrastructure consists of 1675 indoor antennas, 300 access points, over 35 KM of RF cable, and 25 km of fiber cable.
As part of the project WiFi infrastructure was strategically placed in outdoor corridors, covering the various halls slated for G20 events and the back-end IT infrastructure for WiFi access has been seamlessly integrated with the Indoor Wi-Fi infrastructure. RailTel has deployed a secure and robust Telecom Infrastructure, ensuring on demand wired Internet. RailTel also provided passive infra to Telcos.
RailTel provisioned Internet Bandwidth from two Internet Up-streams through 5 different physical paths. RailTel also deployed required cyber security solutions to secure network infrastructure, including secure configuration management, firewall deployment, and intrusion prevention systems to prevent unauthorized access and unauthorized activities within the event’s network environment, while it coordinated with CDAC, CERT-IN, NIC & MHA, under the guidance of MEA, to deliver safe and resilient telecom solutions for G20. The entire project was supported by the Department of Telecom for ensuring closer coordination with mobile service providers under the guidance of honourable minister of Telecom, IT and Railways Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw.
RailTel has also provided end to end bandwidth to integrate camera feeds from Bharat Mandapam, Rajghat area, New Delhi Parliament Street to the Delhi Police HQ (PHQ) at Jai Singh Marg. This seamless connectivity enabled Delhi Police and other key security agencies to closely and pro-actively monitor the security of G-20 event and movement of G-20 delegation along the dedicated routes across Delhi.
It was a very challenging as well as rewarding work for RailTel. Despite a plethora of roadblocks for RailTel and as well as its partners, RailTel completed the work and made the telecom infra ready on time. Success of this project is going to further motivate the team to work even harder with more dedication in future towards the digital transformation journey of the country, emerging as an even stronger digital partner.
RailTel took the challenge of bringing the entire telecom fraternity together to deliver a G20 project of very high complexity and scale and delivered the services successfully.
