Srinagar: Police on Thursday said that it has arrested nine (9) persons for being involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district and also seized 9 vehicles from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg assisted by SHO Police Station Tangmarg seized four vehicles (tippers) and also arrested four drivers identified as Manzoor Ahmad Lone S/o Gh Ahmad R/o Ferozpora, Mohd Yousuf Lone S/o Ali Mohd R/o Hariwatnoo, Sajad Ahmad Rather S/o Gh Ahmad R/o Ratnipora Payeen & Ab Rashid Dar S/o Ab Gani R/o Fejipora Tangmarg for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Kulhama Tangmarg.
Police in its statement further said that in a similar action, a police party under the supervision of SDPO Pattan assisted by IC PP Kungamdara and InCharge Police Post Mirgund seized five vehicles including 1 tipper, 3 tractors and one excavator) and also arrested five drivers identified as Mohd Ashraf Wani S/o Gh Ahmad R/o Shirpora, Mohd Ashraf Lone S/o Noor Mohd, Shabir of Wani S/o Ab Aziz both residents of Hanjiwera Bala, Bilal Ahmad Lone S/o Bashir Ahmad R/o Panzinara & Aijaz Ahmad Guroo S/o Mohammad Ramzan R/o Check Razak Khan.
Stating that the police has accordingly registered cases under relevant sections of law at respective Police Stations and initiated further investigations, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement warned that people found indulging in illegal extraction activities shall be dealt with as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
