Srinagar: Police on Thursday said that it has booked four most wanted drug smugglers under PIT NDPS Act in Baramulla and lodged them in Central Jail Kot-balwal Jammu.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that the four most wante drug smugglers identified as Sajad Khan of Mohura, Manzoor Yatoo @Munna of Heewan, Bilal Rather of Bandipayeen & Aqib Dar @Babar of Khambiyar have been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent Authority, adding therein that the booked drug smugglers have been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-balwal Jammu.
Police in its statement further said that many a cases were registered against these drug smugglers for being involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Mohura Heewan, Bandipayeen Chandoosa, Khambiyar Pattan & other areas of District Baramulla, besides which their involvement in many FIR’s, they did not mend their activities and were again involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police said that the people of the area appreciated the action of police against drug peddlers, stating therein people are assured that efforts are on keep society free from drug abuse.
