Kishtwar: The once dilapidated city roads of Kishtwar, a town nestled in the heart of nature’s beauty, have undergone a remarkable transformation. Under the vigilant guidance of the PWD (R&B) Department Kishtwar, an extensive macadamisation project was undertaken for the financial year 2023-24 under Head City Town and Potholes.
Proudly announcing, the executing agency said that over 60 percent of this ambitious project has already been successfully executed, bringing immense relief to the residents and commuters of Kishtwar Town.
The critical road segments that have been meticulously macadamised to date include the stretch from Hidyal Chowk to the PHE office, Kishtwar, extending further to the sacred Shiv Mandir and the District Police Line Gate. Additionally, the Gurian Malipeth road, beginning at NH 244 near Peer Morh, received a much-needed upgrade, along with the road from Gurian to Hidyal Chowk, encircling the historic Qila. The road connecting RaghuNath Temple to NHPC Gate, extending up to Tanker Point, underwent a thorough transformation.
Furthermore, the road from Gurian to Astan Bala via Qila top, the Cherhar to Bunjwar link road from Km 2 onwards and the Link Road from Semana Colony to Tangwari, in addition to the Seman Bridge to Lanyal route via Dewaro, were all revitalized.
Noteworthy enhancements also encompass the Bulchitar Bagrana Link Road, Shalimar Trigam Link Road along Km 2 and KM 3, and the Dugga Berwar Road.
This extensive macadamisation initiative has created an impeccable road network that not only offers a smoother, more durable surface but also stands resilient against the rigors of traffic and adverse weather conditions. This will result in reduced wear and tear on vehicles and significantly improved driving conditions, turning commutes into a hassle-free experience.
Moreover, road safety has been substantially boosted by the meticulous filling of potholes and the maintenance of these newly macadamised roads. Accidents caused by road defects are now markedly reduced, further enhancing the security of all road users.
The transformation extends beyond functionality to aesthetics. Properly macadamised roads have adorned Kishtwar with an appealing visual charm, inviting residents, visitors, and potential investors to admire the town’s newfound beauty.
In addition to these benefits, the cleanliness of Kishtwar has also received a notable boost due to these efforts.
The people of Kishtwar have shown their appreciation for the tireless work carried out by the PWD (R&B) Department Kishtwar and the District Administration.
Commuters can now enjoy a smooth, pothole-free ride, saving time and reducing the wear and tear on their vehicles.
This monumental project represents a significant step towards the overall development and prosperity of Kishtwar, emphasizing the government’s commitment to improving the lives of its citizens. As the work is in full swing, the future holds even brighter prospects for the town and its residents.
