Distt Admin hosts District-Level Paani Samiti Convention in Udhampur

Udhampur: The District Jal Jeevan Mission Udhampur on Saturday organized a District-Level Paani Samiti Convention in the Conference Hall, DC Office Complex to raise awareness about water conservation among the stakeholders.
The convention was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai, in the presence of the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Joginder Singh Jasrotia and other district officers.
During the event, the experts from JJM informed participants about the essential role of Paani Samitis in the implementation of JJM, emphasizing their responsibility in managing and maintaining assets at the grassroots level.
Addressing the convention, DC Saloni Rai shed light on JJM and highlighted how the scheme aims to provide functional household tap water connections to every household, ensuring access to quality potable water.
She mentioned that JJM is actively involved in training Paani Samiti members to play a pivotal role in asset maintenance and organizing well-structured IEC (Information, Education, and Communication) activities across the district to educate communities about water management. She stressed the importance of adopting greywater management and rainwater harvesting mechanisms to ensure responsible water resource usage and promote the replenishment of the water table.
As part of the convention, a street play (nukkad Natak) was also presented to convey important messages on the occasion. The large number of participants showed keen interest in progress /problems being faced in JJM implementation.
