Brahsatchar Mukht J&K: DPMU, Jal Shakti Shopian organises District Level Pani Samiti Convention

Shopian : District Project Management Unit, Jal Shakti Department Shopian on Saturday organized District Level Pani Samiti Convention in the Auditorium Hall of Imtiyaz Memorial Government Degree College, Shopian under the banner of Brashtachar Mukt Abhiyaan.
The event was organized to mark successful culmination of JJM fortnight which was held from 01 August to 15 August 2023 across the district where multifarious activities were held to sensitize masses about proper care of water assets and conservation efforts required from all stakeholders.
At the outset, DPMU Project Manager, Masood Ahmad informed the participants about the mandate of Paani Samitis who have a key role in implementation of JJM besides ensuring management and upkeep of the assets at the grassroot level.
He also emphasized on adopting grey water management and rain water harvesting mechanism so as to ensure judicious and optimum use of water resources besides facilitating replenishment of water table.
While speaking on the occasion, DIO Showkat Hussain Ganie spoke about the need of the community to preserve water bodies while being responsible citizens. He also gave details of IEC activities being done by ISAs including GVT And NESSWO.
ACR, Shahbaz Ahmad Bodha, in his address said that under JJM every household is being provided with FHTCs ensuring quality of potable water besides imparting training to the members of paani samitis to play guardian role in maintaining JJM assets and their upkeep.
DDC Member, Mohd Maqbool discussed the role of water, and its importance for the continuation of humanity and asked upon all to play their role in using water judiciously.
DDC member, Raja Waheed stressed upon the role of PRIs and community at large on the post management of commissioning of water supply schemes under JJM.
The event was also marked with a Live water testing demonstration performed by the Laboratory team with Field Test Kits (FTKs).
On the occasion, Nukad Natak was also presented, which aimed to dramatically aware people about JJM and it’s ambitious objectives.
Among others AEEs, Jal Shakti, JEs, Pani Samitis members, field staff of Jal Shakti, lab staff and staff of DPMU were also present in the meeting along with other officials and public.
