DDC reviews developmental scenario in Doda Distt

DC Seeks execution of projects with full throttle; Warns erring Contractors, Engineers of strict action

Doda: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Doda, Vishesh Mahajan on Saturday convened a meeting of officers from line departments to review the progress on ongoing vital projects and status of the implementation of different government schemes in the district.
During the meeting, the DDC reviewed the physical and financial progress on the projects being executed by PWD, Jal Shakti, Education, Agriculture, Horticulture, Health, Youth Services and Sports, Housing and Urban Development Department, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Jal Shakti, PMGSY and other line departments in the district.
Implementation of different government programs and schemes was also reviewed during the meeting. He sought details from the concerned departments and executing agencies regarding the progress achieved on projects under the Languishing scheme. Threadbare discussion was also held regarding the delay in completion of different projects for which the time lines were fixed.
Under the PWD (R&B) sector, it was informed that this year out of 126 approved works under different schemes, 85 works have been taken up, and 10 have been completed on the ground.
Reviewing the RDD sector, it was revealed that a total of 2659 works have been approved under various schemes, and 1777 works have been tendered. 598 works have been alloted, and 55 works were completed till August 31st in the district.
Jal Shakti department was asked to complete all the 185 JJM schemes by the 31st of October 2023 so that safe drinking tap water is provided to all 24707 uncovered households in the district.
The Developmental works being executed by the Forest Department were also reviewed, and one FRA case was approved by the committee in the meeting.
It was reported that 140 works out of 252 have been taken up by the Forest Department in the district and others being plantation works shall be taken up during winter months. The Works under execution of Housing and Urban Development Department (MCs), including Multi-storey Car Parking at New Bus Stand Doda, were discussed with the EOs, and the instructions were issued to create assets under PPP mode in Doda and Bhaderwah towns using available land for creating more economic opportunities in the district.
The DDC stressed on creating more parking spaces to decongest the towns. He also reviewed physical and financial progress under MGNREGA, PMAY- G, AWAS Plus, MDM, KGBV, SBM, ISSS, NSAP, RMSA, MUMKIN, Tejaswini, PMEGP, and other government sponsored welfare schemes, and directed to saturate the percolation of the benefits of all such schemes to the eligible beneficiaries.
Mahajan asked to establish the District Level Coordination Committee composed of the officers drawn from PWD, Jal Shakti, JPDCL, RDD and Forest departments for timely Forest clearance of the approved works going through the forest areas and other related issues.
The BDOs were asked to accord sanction for all the approved works in the next two working days so that tenders are floated and works are taken up on the ground. Directions were also issued to the concerned authorities to take cognizance of the delay in execution of the work by the erring contractors and engineers. The departments were asked to take strict action, to eth extent of blacklisting and lodging of FIR against those responsible for malafide halting and delaying important public works.
The DDC stressed to execute impactfully with full throttle on the ground before the onset of winters this year. Mahajan stressed upon the concerned Ex Ens to monitor the execution of ongoing works in the district by way of frequent field visits and exhorted for expediting the pace of work on all the taken up projects for their timely completion.
The meeting was attended by ADC Doda, CPO, SE PWD, SE Jal Shakti, CEO BDA, GM DIC Doda, ACD, DFOs (All), Executive Engineers (All), CEO, CAO, CMO, DYSSO Doda, CAHO Doda, DSWO, DSHO, AEEs/ AEs/ JEs of various wings and other concerned.
