Rajouri: Deputy Commissioner, Vikas Kundal, on Friday chaired a meeting to assess the implementation of the Social Welfare Department schemes and initiatives in the Rajouri district.
The meeting commenced with an enlightening presentation on the remarkable progress achieved under a range of welfare schemes, encompassing pension schemes, the State Marriage Assistance Scheme (SMAS), Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana (PMGAY), Special Central Assistance to Scheduled Castes Sub Plan (SCA to SCSP), scholarship programs, and the distribution of prosthetic aids. The performance and services provided by the Drug Deaddiction Centre and Addiction Treatment Facility Centre were also meticulously evaluated.
During the session, Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal emphasized the need for expeditious completion of development projects under PMGAY and SCA to SCSP. He further conducted an in-depth review of other pivotal initiatives undertaken by the Social Welfare Department, including PMGAY, SMAS, scholarship schemes, and pension schemes. He directed all Tehsil Social Welfare Officers to extend a supportive hand to beneficiaries whose pension applications had been returned due to specific deficiencies, ensuring they encounter no further hurdles in their pursuit of financial assistance.
Recognizing the significance of Aadhaar seeding for financial inclusivity, Vikas Kundal instructed that beneficiaries’ bank accounts under different schemes be seamlessly linked with Aadhaar. This linkage aims to streamline the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) process, thereby guaranteeing prompt disbursal of benefits directly into their bank accounts.
The meeting saw the participation of officers including Chief Planning Officer, Mohammad Khurshid, District Social Welfare Officer, Abdul Raheem, along with Tehsil Social Welfare Officers.
