Srinagar: In connection with the weeklong celebrations of BhrashtacharMukt J&K week, a Departmental Vigilance Officers (DVOs) meeting was held at ACB Headquarters.
According to an official statement the meeting was chaired by Anand Jain, Director Anti Corruption Bureau.
40 Departmental Vigilance Officers of Kashmir Division attended the meeting. Senior officers of ACB Headquarters were also present in the meeting, the statement said.
Apart from reviewing the pendency of cases lying pending with various DVOs of Kashmir Division, Director Anti Corruption Bureau Anand Jain emphasized DVOs that the institution of DVOs has a very important role in the working of ACB as DVOs.
It is not possible for ACB to reach every nook and corner of the UT to enquire into large complaints received, the statement said.
In certain cases the complaints are related to ongoing works, current recruitments, payments yet to be made against contracts etc. DVOs being field officers can quickly make ground verifications as they have knowledge about the departmental functioning. Moreover, they also have access to the records which helps them in ascertaining the factual position quickly, it added.
“DVOs can immediately rectify any excess payment made and loss to the state exchequer can be prevented. 3. Director further emphasized that DVOs have to play an important role in preventing corruption in their respective departments by taking preventive measures at their workplaces,” the statement said.
The meeting was held to review the pendency of the matter at their end. It was impressed upon DVOs that a time frame of one month to be followed in disposal of these matters on merits. He expressed satisfaction over timely disposal of complaints done by DVOs, the statement said
