Dir Horticulture (K) visits Chandigam-A, Sogam; chairs review meeting at Panchayat Bhawan

Amid dry, hot and humid weather, hundreds of people including men, women and children mostly bare foot visited the revered suffi Saint Shrine Sheikh Noor-Ud-Wali popularly known as Nund Resh at Charar-e- Sharief in Budgam district on Sunday for prayers to seek rainfall to end the drought season in Kashmir valley. Srinagar: The Director Horticulture Kashmir, G. R. Mir on Wednesday toured district Kupwara and visited the panchayat halqa Chandigam-A, Sogam the area, of which he has been designated as the ‘Prabhari Officer’.
The day commenced with a review meeting at Panchayat Bhawan Chandigam, which was attended by Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) members and representatives from various line departments. The meeting was marked by a Pledge Ceremony under the ‘Bhrashtachar Mukt J&K’ initiative, a symbol of the Government’s dedication to a corruption-free Jammu and Kashmir.
During the meeting, Director Horticulture Kashmir meticulously reviewed the progress of ongoing initiatives and sought valuable feedback from the line departments present.
He emphasized the importance of completing ongoing projects and discussed department-wise targets to ensure the delivery of the departmental objectives.
Furthermore, the meeting facilitated the redressal of grievances, ensuring a more streamlined and responsive approach to community concerns.
Following the meeting, Mir visited various nurseries under the department’s purview. His itinerary included visits to Muqam Shaheed Dar Lolab, Hi-Tech Walnut Nursery Chandigam, and Fruit Plant Nursery Chowgal.
During these visits, he closely examined the operations of the nurseries, taking stock of the diverse activities underway. Additionally, the director reviewed the budding progress report, ensuring that the department was on track to meet its goals.
During the tour, the Director was accompanied by key officials, including the Chief Horticulture Officer Kupwara, District Horticulture Officer Kupwara, District Horticulture Officer Srinagar, and other field functionaries of the department, who played pivotal roles in making this visit a success.
