Bakery shop owner arrested for selling expired bakery goods in B’la, case registered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested a bakery shop owner involved in selling expired and noxious bakery items to customers in Hyderbeigh area of Baramulla.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said “on Ist August this year a credible input was received by Police Station Palhallan wherein it was alleged that the owner of New International Bakers located in Hyderbeigh, Wusaan Khoie area namely Ghulam Hasaan Sofi is allegedly selling expired and noxious bakery items to the general public”, adding therein that while acting swiftly, a police party from Police Post Palhalan raided the said bakery shop and during the operation, a substantial quantity of expired bakery items and cakes were seized, besides which the team arrested the shop owner and shifted him to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that the police registered a case under relevant sections of the law at Police Station Pattan and initiated further investigation in the case, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to be cautious while purchasing food items and check expiry dates and proper labelling.
