2 drug peddlers arrested in Kulgam, contraband substance also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Kulgam and also recovered contraband substance from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party led by Incharge Police Post Mirbazar at a specific checkpoint established at Malpora Chowk intercepted a vehicle (Tata Mobile) bearing registration No. JK02-2950 with two persons identified as Abdul Qayoom Gojree S/o Mohd Masheer Gojree R/o Pawan-Pur Bidda, Reasi and Showkat Ali Malik S/o Mohd Shafi Malik R/o Daman, Kathua on board. Stating that during search, 10Kgs of Poppy Straw like contraband substance was recovered from the said vehicle and the accused was arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody and the vehicle used in commission of crime was alsi seized, Police in it’s statement further said that a case vide FIR No. 188/2023 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Qazigund and further investigation is underway.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood butwarned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
