2 drug peddlers arrested in Awantipora, Contraband substance also recovered: Police

Srinagar: Police on Saturday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Awantipora and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar, Police said that a police party of Police Station Pampore headed by SHO Police Station Pampore under the supervision of SDPO Pampore Krishan Rattan at a checkpoint established at Patalbagh Pampore intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK01H-0159 with two persons identified as Manzoor Ahmad Mir @man tiger S/o Ab Khaliq Mir R/o Kadlabal Pampore and Aliyas Ahmad Khanday S/o Bashir Ahmad Khanday R/o Namblabal Pampore on board and during search, 1 gram of Herion like substance and 6.100Kgs of Poppy Straw was recovered from their possession besides which the accused were arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody and the vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Stating that the it has registered a Case FIR Number 110/2023 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Pampore and initiated further investigation into the case, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society.
