Orientation Prog of the third Batch of IPM is off to a positive start.

Jammu: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Jammu, welcomed the third batch of IPM (2023-28) with the inauguration of the Orientation Program 0n 1st Sept 2023 at the state-of-the-art campus at Jagti. The three-day holistic orientation programme began with a yoga session conducted by Yoga GuruSh. Sahil Mehra with the theme “Maximise happiness and mindfulness” at the Canal Road Campus. Post completion of the yoga sessions, the students departed for the Jagti Campus for the Inaugural Program.
The orientation program was formally inaugurated by Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, in presence of Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Academics, IIM Jammu,Dr. Ateeque Shaikh, Chairperson, IPM, IIM Jammu, Dr. Rashmi Ranjan Parida, Chairperson, Admissions, Dr. Nitin Upadhyay, Chairperson, MBA, IIM Jammu and Dr. Sarbjit Singh, Chairperson, International Relations,IIM Jammu. The dignitaries on the dais lit the lamp to commence the inaugural ceremony of the three-day orientation program. This was followed by the chanting of the Saraswati Vandana, by the students of the IPM02 batch.
Dr. Rashmi Ranjan Parida, Chairperson Admissions, took center stage to present an impressive overview of the incoming batch and the diversity in the student profile from various backgrounds. He emphasized on the impressive gender diversityof IIM Jammu’s incoming third batch of IPM having 46 % females. He wished all the student’s good luck for their journey ahead.
This was followed by an introduction of the IPM batch by Dr. Ateeque Shaikh, Chairperson (IPM), IIM Jammu. He presented a detailed overview of the IPM course, faculty and the institute in general. He wished good luck to the students for their new academic journey at IIM Jammu.
Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Academics, IIM Jammu extended a warm welcome to all the students. He gave an overview into the academics at IIM Jammu. He further emphasized on IIM Jammu’s remarkable growth rate because of its increased student strength and program diversity since its inception. He wished them luck for their upcoming rigorous, yet wonderful experience at the Institute.
Prof. BS Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, extended his hearty welcome to the incoming IPM03 batch of IIM Jammu. He spoke about the various programmes started by IIM Jammu in collaboration with IIT Jammu and AIIMS Jammu. He urged the on the need to reduce the urban-rural divide in the upcoming batches at the Institute. He emphasized on the importance of every student being a critical stakeholder for the county. Further, he advised the students to become job creators rather than being job seekers and consistently working towards achieving this vision. He encouraged the students to embrace the new academic environment and learn from hardships to become better managers.
The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Dr. Sarbjit Singh, Co-chairperson (IPM), IIM Jammu, followed by the National Anthem. Post a short break, the students had the opportunity to interact with industry experts. Mr. Ajit Yohannan, Marketing Manager – India, Opentext, conducted an interactive and engaging session on the topic ‘Seize the Opportunity. Recognizing opportunities, stepping outside of one’s comfort zone, embracing failure as a learning opportunity, and networking and building connections were a few key points discussed in detail by the speaker.
The program then witnessed an invigorating session on ‘Crafting your corporate journey in HRM’ by Mr. Warner Jude Gonsalvez, Talent Acquisition Director – India, RSM US LLP. He enlightened the students about the different HR policies of top companies and the variety of career choices in the field of HR. He suggested numerous critical skills that students should invest in.
