Militant associate convicted by Trial Court: Police

Srinagar: Police on Friday said that on 31-08-2023, the Trial Court in Srinagar after completion of trial in case FIR No. 33/2019 under section 18, 20, 38, 39 UA(P) Act of Police Station Srigufwara convicted a militant associate and awarded a fine to the tune of 1 lack to him.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that the militant associate identified as Shahid Fayaz Tarray S/o Fayaz Ahmad Tarray R/o Shalagam Bijbehara was convicted under Section 39 of UA(P) Act.
Police in it’s above referred statement also said that on 23rd July,2019 specific inputs were received by Police Station Srigufwara about some unknown hard core militant associates of JeM militants facilitating the militants to carry out militant activities, motivating youth to join militant ranks and organizing militant module to pay every possible help to strengthen the militant web within the jurisdiction of Police Station Srigufwara etc. Stating that on on receiving this information, a case FIR No. 33/2019 under section 18, 20, 38, 39 UA(P) Act was registered and investigation was also taken up, Police in it’s statement further said that during the course of investigation, some suspected hard core militant associates were zeroed in on and questioned following which a checkpoint was on 6th August 2020 was established at Darigund Srigufwara during which Shahid Fayaz Tarray S/o Fayaz Ahmad Tarray R/o Shalagam Bijbehara was apprehended and taken into custody and later, adding therein that other recoveries were made according to his confession of the crime.
