Srinagar: Police on Thursday dais that it has arrested four persons and seized four vehicles from their possession for being involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, in Baramulla district.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party under the supervision of SDPO Pattan Mohd Nawaz assisted by SHO Police Station Pattan and Incharge Police Post Kungamdara, seized three tractors and arrested three drivers identified as Mohd Ramzan Wani S/o Ab Jabbar R/o Khore Sherabad, Mohd Younis Mir S/o Abdul Ahad R/o Babagund Pattan and Suhail Abbas Dar S/o Nazir Ahmad R/o Goom Ahmadpora Pattan for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Babagund Pattan and Goom Ahmadpora Pattan.
Police in it’s statement further said that in a similar action, a police party under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla Altaf Ahmad assisted by InCharge Police Post Delina, seized a tipper and arrested its driver identified as Shahnaz Ahmad Mir S/o Ghulam Ahmad Mir R/o Kalampora Delina on charges of involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Darpora Delina.
Stating that cases under relevant sections of law were registered at respective police stations and investigation were subsequently initiated, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement warned that people found indulging in illegal extraction activities shall be dealt with as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
