Srinagar: Police on Wednesday said that on the directions of SSP Ganderbal Nikhil Borkar, it had carried out a destruction drive of wild Cannabis cultivation on massive scale across Ganderbal district.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar, Police said that the drive was carried out by police parties led by SHOs of Police Stations and Incharge PPs, along with the team Revenue and Excise Department & irrigation and flood control besides, respectable citizens also participated in the destruction drive with fervour and enthusiasm.
Police in it’s statement said that people of these areas have widely appreciated the actions taken by it and assured them of their full cooperation in future to eradicate the drug menace from the society. In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding cultivation of contrabands in their neighbourhood and warned that people found indulging in drug peddling & cultivation of contraband substances shall be dealt as per law.
