BHSS Beerwah celebrates national sports day with great enthusiasm

B’gam: National Sports Day was celebrated at BHSS Beerwah, Budgam on with great enthusiasm and fervour. A total of 400 students, teachers, Sports persons, civil society members participated in different sports including volleyball, tug of war, Ball collection, kho kho, cardboard race, cricket; Table tennis etc. The worthy Principal, Javid Ahmad Banday inaugurated various sports activities and delivered a valuable and inspiring speech. He stressed upon the students to participate in sports activities, as Sports activities are very important for their holistic development.
Mushtaq Ahmad wani Teacher of the institution said, “Sports play an important role in the physical and mental development of students, besides improving their concentration towards constructive activities and relieving their stress and anxiety”. He further said that in view of growing drug addiction numbers in Jammu and Kashmir, the sports activities could play an important role in reducing the soaring drug addiction rate.
Mementos, trophies and appreciation certificates were also distributed among winning students, teachers and others. Mudasir Ahmad Sheikh, lecturer physical Education of the institution was also presented an appreciation certificate for his outstanding role in sports activities.
The celebrations culminated with the vote of thanks by Mohammad Aslam Pandit, lecturer English of the institution.
