Srinagar: Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Kulgam district and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar, Police said that a police party led by Incharge Police Post Mirbazar at a specific checkpoint established at Nippora intercepted two persons who after noticing the police party tried to flee from the spot but were apprehended tactfully and during search, six Kgs of Poppy Straw like contraband substance concealed in two nylon bags was recovered from their possession.
Staing that the said accused have been identified as Surjeet Singh and Sunil Singh both sons of Sukhdev Singh R/o Dheeran Ramnagar, Udhampur, Police in it’s statement further said that the said accused have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Police in it’s statement also said that a case vide FIR No. 181/2023 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Qazigund , adding therein that further investigation was also initiated into the case.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
