Unfortunately Civil Society groups mostly run by retired bureaucrats and trade union leaders talk more but do less in campaigning against the rising social crimes in both Kashmir Valley and as well as Jammu division.

Social crimes whenever and wherever occur and re-occur don’t head to any dead end only through enforcement but are finally reduced with the active cooperation from the society itself and as such the onus of reducing the social crimes lies more on the role of society and less on law enforcement. It is an irrefutable fact that while enforcing law police always acts against the perpetrators of social crimes and break their chains of criminal activities sooner or later but ultimately social crimes don’t end unless and until the society itself does not step in against the rising social crimes. Unfortunately Jammu & Kashmir has become a safe heaven for drug addiction and immoral activities not just in last one or two years but almost since last one decade due to unprecedented rise in the trends and tendencies of social crimes among youth equally both in Kashmir Valley and as well as Jammu division. In fact rise in such social crimes despite heavy curbs by the police don’t head to any dead end. Unfortunately Civil Society groups mostly run by retired bureaucrats and trade union leaders talk more but do less in campaigning against the rising social crimes in both Kashmir Valley and as well as Jammu division. While religious preachers in their Friday sermons exhort teachers and parents to keep a vigil over the activities of children within and outside the schools just to break their contacts with the drug addicts and the perpetrators of other social crimes but such a campaigning from mosques does not change into a full fledged public campaign against drug addiction and other social crimes.

“Instead of police the religious preachers and civil society groups can together change campaign against social evils particularly drug addiction into a mass movement if they come together to fight the growing menace of social crimes particularly addiction ruining young lives and spoiling the future of youth in both Kashmir Valley and as well as Jammu division. So by all standards of understandabilities the onus of reducing the increasing social crimes particularly drug addiction lies on religious preachers and civil society groups in both Kashmir Valley and as well as Jammu division”.

While religious preachers can’t change their appeals for curbs against social crimes into a full fledged public campaign without the cooperation of civil society groups, the Police can’t also reduce the increasing trends of social crimes particularly drug addiction without the support of the people of all shades and opinions across Jammu & Kashmir. Though police holds public awareness programs on rise in social crimes particularly drug addiction as part of their civic action program at “Thana Divas” events but people attending such programs forget all about their role against social crimes within minutes after attending such police sponsored events. Instead of police the religious preachers and civil society groups can together change campaign against social evils particularly drug addiction into a mass movement if they come together to fight the growing menace of social crimes particularly addiction ruining young lives and spoiling the future of youth in both Kashmir Valley and as well as Jammu division. So by all standards of understandabilities the onus of reducing the increasing social crimes particularly drug addiction lies on religious preachers and civil society groups in both Kashmir Valley and as well as Jammu division.
