DPMU, JJM, Dist Admin Kulgam hold District Level Pani Samiti Convention at Kulgam

Kulgam: District Level Project Management Unit, JJM Kulgam in collaboration with District Administration Kulgam on Tuesday organized District Level Pani Samiti Convention at mini-secreterait Kulgam.
The convention was presided over by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr. Bilal Muhi-ud-Din Bhat.
The event was organized to mark successful culmination of JJM fortnight which was held from 1st August to 15th August, 2023 across the district where multifarious activities were held to sensitize masses about proper care of water assets and conservation efforts required from all stakeholders.
The event started with the water testing demonstration performed by the members of the Implementing Support Agency (ISA) team with Field Test Kits (FTKs).
ISA Expert JJM, informed the participants about the mandate of Paani Samitis who have a key role in implementation of JJM besides ensuring management and upkeep of the assets at the grassroots level.
Emphasis was laid on adopting grey water management and rain water harvesting mechanism so as to ensure judicious and optimum use of water resources besides facilitating replenishment of water table.
The DC in his address said that under JJM every household is being provided functional household Tap water connection ensuring quality potable water to all.
JJM is also involved in imparting training to the members of paani samitis to play guardian role in maintaining JJM assets and their upkeep and are conducting well organised IEC activities across the district to aware and equip communities in handling water management.
ADDC Kulgam, Showkat Ahmad Rather, Ex. Engineer Kulgam, and other speakers also spoke on the role of Pani Samitis in the effective management of water.
The convention was attended by a huge gathering of Pani Samiti members, PRI members, ASHAs, AWWs, students concerned officials of department and other public.
