Kishtwar: Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Dr. Devansh Yadav, on Monday chaired the District Road Safety Committee meeting to deliberate on road safety measures in the district.
The meeting extensively discussed the current state of the public transport system in the district. The road safety action plan, outlining tasks assigned to different departments was the key focus of the discussions.
Dr. Devansh Yadav presented a comprehensive list of activities related to road safety and traffic management. He underscored the importance of interdepartmental coordination to enhance the overall system.
Reviewing the progress of road safety implementation, Road Safety Act enforcement, identification of high-risk areas (Black Spots), installation of crash barriers and Reflectors, drainage covers at bus stands, road signage placement, speed limits, and traffic calming measures were assessed.
Authorities were directed to rectify Black Spots, erect crash barriers, install road signage, and implement traffic regulations, especially in accident-prone zones. Special attention was given to bridge ralling at Giri Nagar, identified as a focus area to minimize accidents.
The DC urged stakeholders to pool resources for safe road infrastructure and sustainable transportation, with efficient emergency services. He instructed ARTO Kishtwar to ensure adequate services along all routes.
Ensuring fitness certificates for vehicles, implementing Sticker Challans, curbing traffic rule violations, and enforcing strict actions against violators were emphasized. The meeting highlighted the need to identify and establish additional parking spaces in Kishtwar town.
SSP Kishtwar ensured to implement alcohol tester breath analyzers for safe traffic management.
Issues concerning road tax collection at Dak Banglow and safe traffic management were addressed.
SSP Kishtwar Khalil Ahmed Poswal-JKPS, ADC Kishtwar Inderjeet Singh Parihar, SDM Paddar Arun Kumar Badyal, Tehsildar HQ Chander Shekhar Sharma,Tehsildar Kishtwar Muneeb Umar, EO Municipal Council Kishtwar Ninad Sen, CMO Kishtwar, ARTO Officials and AEEs and JEs from concerned agencies attended the meeting.
